COMMITTEES & INITIATIVES |

The strength of The Coalition (NYCOBW) comes from its committee structure.  The work of the committees allows NYCOBW to act on issues of local, state, national and international importance to Black women, their families and their communities and enables NYCOBW to partner with like-minded organizations to achieve mutual goals.  By joining and actively participating in one or more of the following committees, you will enable NYCOBW to continue its important work. The following are the Standing and Operations Committees of NYCOBW. Please contact us for additional information on how you can join the Committee(s) of your choice.

 

Standing Committees

• Fundraising and Development – responsible to fundraising and development activities

• By Laws and Policy – reviews, updates and recommends revisions to By-Laws and Policy

• Membership – responsible for recruitment, orientation, retention and recognition of members

• Nominating – presents candidates for office, prepares slate and conducts elections

• Programs – oversee and develop programs and activities consistent with goals of NYCOBW

 

Operations Committees

• Arts and Culture – promotes awareness of history and economic aspects of arts and culture

• Community Service – focuses on and supports community projects

• Education – focuses on and supports educational projects

• Entrepreneur – provides information on how to initiate, operate and manage business ventures

• Health – provides information on health issues affecting women and their families

• Global Affairs – increases awareness of global issues impacting women and families

• Media and Communications – maintains and updates digital communication systems

• Political Awareness – increases awareness of political issues impacting women and families 

• Role Model Program – provides realistic career information to students through mentoring
